Charlotte Mason Educational Retreat 2022

Posted 25 October 2021 by Rebecca
(Last updated 30 October 2021)

February has a reputation in the homeschooling world of being the month when the feelings of quitting or at least taking an extended break are at their peak. It can be a time of year when many families are tired of being trapped indoors (and facing at least a month more of it), moms and kids are sick of the same old routine (which is still not producing results), and many bad habits are solidly ingrained.

This is one of many reasons why the Charlotte Mason Educational Retreat is just in time to rescue homeschooling moms from the mid-school-year doldrums. My wonderful friend, Dawn, is the mastermind behind all of it, and she and the rest of the CMER team spend a great deal of time, energy, and effort planning, coordinating, and praying for this weekend. It’s a beautiful time of Charlotte Mason goodness, including meeting and getting to know other Charlotte Mason homeschoolers, obtaining tools that help us feel motivated to stay the course (or try something new), offering tried-and-true ideas for how we can improve our homeschools, as well as a way for us to reflect on how we want our homeschools to look.

I’ve either been a participant, helping behind the scenes, and/or leading an immersion every year since 2017 (sadly, we didn’t have one last year), and I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite weekends of the year. I have grown as a mom, an educator, and I’ve cultivated friendships during these weekends. I have felt welcomed and loved and have returned to my family on Sunday night ready to tackle the rest of our school year with renewed energy. If you’d like to read a little more of my thoughts on previous years, you can find them here.

If this sounds like something you’d like to experience, registration for the 2022 Charlotte Mason Educational Retreat, taking place February 18-20, is now open! Once again, it will be located at The Hideaway in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This facility provides a cozy, peaceful, and inviting atmosphere in which to recharge yourself. If you’ve ever thought about attending a Charlotte Mason retreat, this is an excellent one with which to start. 🙂

This year, I will be doing another immersion on picture study and all of the other sessions look fantastic as well! I’m particularly interested in Karen’s workshop on “Charting Your Own Mother’s Education Course,” Dawn’s talk on “History,” and Jennifer’s discussion on “Cultivating Divine Knowing.”

If you’re planning to join us (and can forgive my social awkwardness 😁), I’d love to meet you!

Hello! I'm Rebecca. Wife to E, homeschooling mother to B (son, age 12) and C (daughter, age 8), and currently living in Colorado. I have a degree in art history and find joy in being able to offer art-related resources to homeschooling families as well as a gentle, Charlotte Mason-Inspired Kindergarten Curriculum. I also share our own homeschooling journey in the hope that it can be a help to others! Read More…
