We were married in this spot eight years ago yesterday. Sometimes it feels a lot longer than eight years and sometimes it seems like a lot less. And, as most marriages generally go, we’ve definitely had our highs and lows. But it’s been a good long-short eight years. I can’t imagine having gone down this path with anyone else.
He really is my best friend.
We spent the morning at this golf course and then drove up to Boulder for a late lunch before we picked up our anniversary cake. We’ve had the tradition of getting a nice cake each year for our anniversary after we were given a free one-year cake on our first anniversary. The first few years, we went back to the place where we got our wedding cake but then after the gluten sensitivity diagnosis, we had to go elsewhere and have been experimenting ever since. This year’s has been quite tasty.
We had originally planned on going somewhere for a night or two but then decided not to spend the money. I’m glad we ended up doing this as we were both pretty distracted by the election and it would’ve been a waste to just sit in a hotel room watching results come in when we could do that just as well at home.
Still, it wasn’t a bad anniversary and E has the rest of the week off so we get to stretch it out as much as we can, which we plan on doing. 🙂
