Here are some links around the internets that caught my eye this week for your leisurely weekend.
- “I would have liked the other one better!” How Too Much Choice Affects Our Kids – I wholeheartedly agree with this idea, though I have to admit that I’ve struggled with whether or not I’ve held B back at times by limiting how many toys he has. It’s been especially true when I’ve taken him to friends’ houses who have more toys for their children and he seems to be entertained and happy by the toys which lead me to coming home and pulling up Amazon to see what new delight I could find for him. We used to have ALL of his toys in baskets in the living room for him to pull out whenever he wanted and each night they were strewn all over the floor. But when I started reading more about Montessori, I decided to limit his choices and now rotate his toys in and out each month. He doesn’t seem to have noticed at all and I know I at least like the order it creates…I can’t help but hope that maybe he does too.
- 7 Foods So Unsafe Even Farmers Won’t Eat Them – I would add to this list eggs from battery-raised chickens and meat from indoor broiler chickens. I don’t blame a lot of ethical veg*ns for their stance simply because of how horribly we treat animals that are being raised for food.
