  1. I also read Persuasion this year and enjoyed it so much.

Years ago I was discouraged by my lack of handicrafts and decided to focus on my other homemaking skills, like cooking and food preservation. I think the important thing is being a creator. This past year was difficult again so I took a lot of joy in all of my many ferments even though I really didn’t produce very much outside the kitchen.

Finally, thanks for the plug for Man of the Family. I read the first in the series YEARS ago and loved it but we’ve never come back to it. I was so wrecked by the end of the book. Maybe it is time to go back.

    1. I agree on “being a creator”! I think I need to embrace that that’s probably just the season I’m in right now. And I really struggled with the end of Father and I Were Ranchers also…in fact, the ending of Many of the Family wasn’t all that great, but still……such good books!

  2. This was a great read for me today as this is our first day back to lessons after a month off. I’m sitting here drinking the last of the tea from our poetry lunch and soaking up a bit of encouragement. I enjoy your blog as I use many of your notes about your reading as I plan for my son (AO Y3).
I am also encouraged by your continued efforts at mother culture!

    1. I’m in the middle of that year with my daughter right now and it’s such a fun one! 🙂
