Love146 and Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday & Love146 - ahumbleplace.com

If you’ve been reading here for a while, you know that Love146, a group that fights child sex trafficking and exploitation through various programs around the world, is close to my heart. Before kids and a little while after B came along, I volunteered for the local Love146 taskforce in an administrative role as well as working booths and tables where I answered questions about the organization at different events. One year I decided to participate in the annual Blogathon (which is now defunct), blogging every half hour for 24 hours straight to raise over $500 for them. I loved being part of such an amazing organization, even in the teeny, tiny way that I was.

The main reason I love this group so much can be summed up in their vision statement:

Love146 is an international human rights organization working to end child trafficking and exploitation through survivor care and prevention. The trafficking and exploitation of children is one of the darkest stories and most severe human rights abuses imaginable. But for us, the hope of ending it is a reality. Love146 is helping grow the movement to end child trafficking while providing effective, thoughtful solutions. We believe in the power of love and its ability to effect sustainable change. Love is the foundation of our motivation.

OUR VISION IS THE ABOLITION OF CHILD TRAFFICKING AND EXPLOITATION. NOTHING LESS.

Complete abolishment. Nothing less. They hold on to hope that this will be irradicated so the children they fight for, both overseas and in the United States (because it does also happen here!), can hold on to hope that someone out there is still on their side. This, paired with their view of doing this all in love flies in the face of a cynical and selfish world, and that is a message I can embrace wholeheartedly. You can read more about why they chose “146,” their vision and values, frequently asked questions, or check out their blog.

Right now is an excellent time to donate to Love146! Just in time for Giving Tuesday on November 28th, Britton Colquitt, punter for the Cleveland Browns, is offering to match all donations up to $17,500 (for a total of $35,000) to Love146 for the next week!

I would love to be part of this as well as Giving Tuesday so I’m offering a free, downloadable print to anyone who donates at least $5 to Love146 through my page! Once you’ve submitted your donation, take a look through my shop, then send me a note letting me know you donated and which print you’d like, and I’ll send you the file!

Help me reach my goal of raising $100 between today and next Tuesday by donating at the link below!
