  1. I like your choices. I just posted mine last night too and we are both reading Flannery O’Connor’s Complete Stories! I have Age of Innocence on my shelf, but it didn’t make it on to my list this year . . . maybe next year. Some of your choices are some of my faves. Looks like you have a great reading year ahead.

    1. Flannery O’Connor’s short stories are fantastic. I read them a couple of years ago when the Close Reads podcast went through them. Looking back, I am so thankful that I read them with help. O’Connor’s work was so far outside of my comfort zone at that time, I surely would have dropped them in complete confusion if I had been reading them alone. If you wind up scratching your head and wondering, “What did I just read?!” I recommend those recordings as a resource.

      1. that podcast was actually my initial inspiration for reading that book. 🙂 I started it in 2017 but had to return it to the library before I finished and then got caught up in other books. I’m looking forward to finishing it.

  2. I’m so excited about your book choices…And slightly impressed you chose Oedipus Rex for your Greek play! I’m also hoping to do the 20 for 2020 challenge, but I’ve planned out my books yet. Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. I looked at a list of Greek plays and it recommended to start with Oedipus Rex…but now I’m intimidated! 🙂 We’ll see if I actually do read it. I also saw that challenge as well…there are so many from which to choose! I may try that one next year!

I just read The Old Man and the Sea last week and loooved it. It was my first full Hemingway and I adore how he writes. Most of his work is so lengthy, I too am intimidated to pick up the next one. Good luck with your list!
