2022-2023 AmblesideOnline Picture Study Art Print Files Free Download!

It’s that time of year again! Today I’m offering the 2022-2023 AmblesideOnline Picture Study art print files for download! Each free (and no strings attached) PDF includes printable versions of six (or seven) paintings from each artist, taken from the AmblesideOnline Artist Study rotation.
This year contains one of my favorites, Vincent van Gogh, as well as Raphael and John Singer Sargent. The Raphael selections do include nudity, but there are alternative suggestions on the AmblesideOnline list, which I have also included in the file.
Beneath each image is the title, artist name, and the date it was painted as well as permission to print it at your local copy shop for personal use. You can find the files here (or on the Picture Study Resources page):
As always, I did try to find the highest resolution images I could on the internet, which sometimes proves to be problematic. I have found that there is a delicate balance of providing high-quality images while maintaining a relatively small file size. If you do have questions about printing the files, I have a few tips and suggestions here for how to print your picture studies at home, have them printed at an office supply store, or purchase prints from an online supplier if that would be helpful.
I am also announcing that I will only be offering one free Picture Study Aid per year from now on. As much as I have loved making them available to the homeschooling community at no charge the last five years, these Picture Study Aids not only take a lot of time to write, but I also get quite a few emails about them that take time to answer as well. As my kids have gotten older and other responsibilities are popping up in my days, I have found that I need to be more intentional with my time.
Of course, I will continue offering these printable art files at no charge or any strings attached as long as I am amble. With that said, this year’s free Picture Study Aid will be John Singer Sargent, and I hope to have that available for download this summer.

Thank you so much for this gift to the Charlotte Mason homeschool community! I just discovered your website, and, your being an art history major, you might have a recommendation for a high level art history timeline. It seems to me it would be helpful to place each artist we study in the larger context (through a quick visual chart) of the various periods. Thanks in advance for any advice you might have.
Edith Frost actually recommended this very thing in an article she wrote for L’Umile Pianta. I have a copy of the Mary Innes book she mentions in the article and I’ve looked at one on Archive but sadly have not found the chart she is referring to. I actually haven’t done much research into a timeline for this specific purpose other than that, so I can’t be much help. You could probably search for an art history timeline that would give a good general overview, then print your own timeline (there are lots of free PDFs for that purpose) and enter the different art periods. That’s probably what I’d do. 🙂
