From Pinterest to Real Life.

This month’s Pinterest experiments were a little bit of a FAIL on my part as they all have to do with food. I started to clean my washing machine, but then got distracted by making supper and didn’t do the full set of instructions (subsequently wasting a lot of vinegar and baking soda :(). I feel like I had a lot to do this month, but when I look back I can’t really see any reason why I feel that way. Still, trying new foods is better than nothing, right?!

Here’s the list:

  • A Week of Paleo School Lunches! – Okay, so we didn’t do all of this, but we did do the roast beef wrap version and they were a huge hit. I plan on trying the other ones in the coming weeks. Does anyone want to buy me a full set of Lunchbots boxes so E can have cute lunches? 😀
  • Butternut Squash Soup – I made butternut squash soup last fall and B loved it, though I’ve never been too crazy about it. This version appealed to me because it doesn’t have any cream in it (which means I don’t have to have cream on hand to make it!) and this was also a hit not only with him but I really liked it also. I just got a butternut squash on Wednesday with my produce delivery and there’s fresh chicken stock in the fridge, so I think I’ll be making this again today.
  • Garlic Cauliflower “Mashed Potatoes” – Another one from Nom Nom Paleo which is becoming one of my favorite food sites. I want to try this one again as I put in WAY too much nutmeg (the little sifter thing seems to be missing from the top of our jar) and maybe even leave it out entirely. I think I’m one of the few people on the planet who actually likes the taste of cauliflower. Pair it with tons of butter and garlic and I’m in cruciferous heaven.

Okay, so I always end with stating something about having high hopes for the next month, but not today. I’m just glad I managed to do something Pinterest-related this month. 🙂

  1. These look great! I actually just bought cauliflower to do “mashed faux-tatoes”. Looking forward to it. I’m not a potato person, but cauliflower on the other hand…

    1. They’re definitely not like potatoes. E (hubby) was pretty surprised when he took a bite, expecting potatoes and getting cauliflower instead. 🙂 But they’re good if you like cauliflower!
