It’s that time of year again! Today I’m announcing that Volume IV of the Advent Art Devotions and Art Prints that I’ve offered the last three years is now available!
To give you a little background, I had the desire for several years to put together something that would allow me to incorporate art into our yearly Advent traditions. In the past, our homeschool co-op picked an extra print from one of our picture study artists with a holiday-related subject, and I enjoyed having these pieces to display over the holidays. There is so much beautiful Christmas-related art available from both well-known and obscure artists. I thought it would be nice to curate a few pieces along with Bible verses, hymns, and poetry that we could use to pause during the time of Advent and truly contemplate the meaning of this season. In 2019, I finally put together a little devotional guide, and I was happy to be able to offer it as a product on my website as well.
I had such a positive response to the guide the first year (the prints sold out in less than two days!) that I decided I wanted to make this an annual tradition. So I’m offering a new selection of art, hymns, and poetry for this year!

These guides differ from the picture study aids in that I have not included information about the paintings themselves or artist biographies. My vision for adding art into our Advent traditions was not to include more academic opportunities but rather more possibilities for contemplation and meditation during a season that tends to be overwhelming with busyness and distractions.
Also, while the art, hymns, and poems are different from last year, the Bible passages are the same. I also listened to your requests and the hymn resources page at the end now includes links to sheet music, vocal performances, and instrumental versions of each song along with QR codes as well. I hope they make enjoying the music easier for you!
You can find this year’s version at the link below, or if you missed out on the first two years, they can be found here. I hope you will find these helpful in adding opportunities for contemplation during your holiday season!
I eagerly anticipate this time of year and its invitation to slowness with our Lord and the opening up of a space in which to consider what it meant to the world to expect his first coming and what it means to us now to await his second.
Rebecca, these Advent devotions bless my family. You provide a simple yet beautiful way via eye and ear to guide heart and mind. Scripture readings anchor the practice and inspire artists to share their reflections and invite us into them. I feel drawn into community with those distant in time and space as we ponder and marvel at God’s message.
These Devotion Sets are family keepsakes. They are so beautifully and thoughtfully crafted. And the easy access to audio versions of the hymns online means they are truly a ‘pick up and go’ resource. Thank you.
