  2. Would love to hear your talk from the conference- I wanted to go but winter weather and travel kept me away, sigh. I use your artist pages for picture study in our small co-op community, thank you for sharing those!!

    1. I’m hoping to do a series of posts in the near future on picture study methods and theory. Just need to get a few other things off my plate first! Hopefully you can make it here in the future! I know it’s a tough time of year to travel…we actually had a big snowstorm on Friday that delayed many attendees, but we all eventually got there safely. 🙂

    1. Lisa, I was so happy when you said you were coming to my talk. 🙂 It was great to see a familiar face in the crowd!

  4. I understand how threatening and trying to influence your child to do the right thing results in them doing it for the wrong reasons. But then how do you, in that moment, have them obey something you have asked them to do when they are making a fuss? What other methods do you use?

    1. Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s a quick and easy “technique” that offers an alternative to this. For younger kids, I think the consequences of a given action neesd to be known in advance and if they choose to test that, they face that consequence (the book “Parenting with Love and Logic” was helpful in this area). As they get older, I think maintaining a good relationship with them is key as I’ve found with my kids that when our relationship is good and they feel connected to me, they are less likely to disobey as when they are feeling disconnected.
